Greens call for Government overhaul and single Ministry responding to Domestic Violence

This International Women’s Day, the Greens are calling for a single dedicated Ministry within the Premier and Cabinet cluster which has responsibility for both the prevention of and frontline responses to domestic and family violence.A shift to a central government unit responsible for sexual, domestic, and family violence was one of the 49 asks of the Safe State policy platform put forward by the NSW Women’s Alliance.

Lake Macquarie Mining

Alarmed by reports that seismic testing was about to commence in Lake Macquarie with no community consultation, Abigail used Question Time to request information on what the Government was doing and whether it was taking onboard the strong community opposition to the project.

Fossil Fuels

Today in Parliament, Abigail moved a motion in support of a transition to 100% renewable energy, to stop the construction of any new fossil fuel projects and ensure all workers in the coal industry are supported to transition to new jobs in renewable energy.

Murder of Hannah Clarke

Angered by yet another murder of a woman, Hannah Clarke, by a violent male partner, Abigail used her Private Members Statement to call out the Government on their inaction in addressing the sexual violence epidemic and to demand immediate steps to prevent the murder of another woman and their family.

Disability Advocacy Services Funding

Concerned about the continued lack of long-term, secure funding for vital independent Disability Advocacy Services despite calls for funding from the Ageing & Disability Commissioner, today Abigail successfully moved another motion calling for the Government to support these essential services.
