Labor's rental reforms fall short in properly ensuring pet-friendly rentals

Abigail called out the major shortcomings in the Labor Government's rental reform bill in relation to making it easier for renters to keep pets. Greens secure amendments to make private health insurers pay their fair share

Today in Parliament, Abigail passed an amendment that will lump private health insurers with a million dollar fine if they're not honest and transparent in the future. Successive governments have allowed private health insurers to rip off our state and get a free ride for far too long - to the tune of hundreds of millions of public dollars.

Today in Parliament Abigail spoke in support of the Government's well-overdue rental reforms bill, which will finally end no-grounds evictions and introduce some crucial protections for renters. Unfortunately, the bill falls short in properly ensuring pet-friendly rentals - Abigail spoke about the implications this will have on victim-survivors of domestic violence with pets, pets who themselves are victims of violence, and all renters seeking to find a rental that accommodates their pets.

Global calls to end the kangaroo trade are growing, why won't the NSW Government listen?

Today in Parliament, Abigail contributed to a debate opposing the commercial slaughter of kangaroos in NSW. While global momentum builds to end the trade of kangaroo parts, including recent U.S. legislative efforts to ban kangaroo imports, Labor and the Coalition sadly supported this awful motion.
