The Ageing & Disability Commissioner Report into the ongoing funding of vital independent disability advocacy services was handed down today. But the Minister for Disability is still refusing to commit to fund these services past 2020.

Today the NSW Legislative Council voted down the Greens’ Central Coast Drinking Water Catchments Protection Bill 2019. Senator Mehreen Faruqi will join Abigail Boyd MLC on the Central Coast tomorrow to meet with residents.
Transgender Day of Remembrance
Today in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance, Abigail paid tribute to all of the transgender and gender diverse people whose lives had been lost to transphobia and recommitted to standing in solidarity with the transgender and gender diverse community.

An Upper House Committee will be conducting an inquiry into the provisions of the Digital Restart Fund Bill 2019. The Bill is designed to provide funding for digital and information and communications technology initiatives across the government sector, in order to improve the delivery of services by government agencies.

Today in Question Time, Abigail asked about the ongoing erosion occuring at Stockton Beach due to the construction of artificial structures and what the long-term plans were to reverse this concerning trend.

Speaking in support of a motion calling out the Government’s continued obsession with privatisation of essential services and infrastructure, Abigail called for publicly owned and operated services and against the politics of austerity.
Stop the Sydney Bus Sell-Off
In support of the RTBU led campaign to stop the privatisation of Sydney’s last remaining publicly owned and operated buses, Abigail successfully moved a motion calling on the Government to stop the privatisation of essential services and keep our buses in public hands.
NSW Upper House passes motion opposing bus sell-off
The Liberals plan to sell-off the last publicly-owned bus services in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches and North Shore has been strongly opposed today by the NSW parliament upper house, passing a Greens motion to stop the sell-off.

Greens Bill to protect Central Coast drinking water & stop Wallarah 2 introduced
Today, NSW upper house MP and Greens spokesperson for the Central Coast, Abigail Boyd, introduced the Central Coast Drinking Water Catchments Protection Bill 2019 to protect the Central Coast drinking water by imposing a moratorium on coal mining and CSG in the Central Coast’s water catchment areas.
