The Greens have slammed the Liberals' decision to back Santos' Narrabri gas project today. The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment has recommended the controversial project be approved "with strict conditions", and Planning Minister Rob Stokes has called on the IPC to hand down a decision within 12 weeks. 

Given the impact that COVID-19 has had on our economy, today Abigail moved a motion recognising that to tackle this crisis we have to move beyond austerity and begin a just-transition to a renewable driven future.

Today Abigail spoke in support of a motion recognising the impacts of COVID-19 on young people, especially in relation to employment opportunities, and the need for the government to provide additional support. 

After months and months of stalling, today Abigail asked again why the NSW Government had failed to commit to long-term, secure funding for independent disability advocacy services despite the recommendation from the Ageing & Disability Commissioner for NSW.

Today Abigail spoke in strong opposition to the proposed wage freeze on public sector workers made by the NSW Government and supported the motion to disallow that decision.

Whether it’s greenlighting the toxic underground Wallarah 2 coal mine that will consume gigalitres of our supply and threaten its contamination, or allowing the Mangrove Mountain rubbish tip to contaminate our catchment, this government has shown us time and time again that they will ignore community needs in favour of propping up corporate interests.

The Transport & Customer Service inquiry into the Conversion of the Sydenham to Bankstown Line has found that the Metro South West should terminate at Sydenham, and that the final business case and cost-benefit analysis for the project must be immediately released.

Today in Parliament, Abigail moved a motion in support of a transition to 100% renewable energy, to stop the construction of any new fossil fuel projects and ensure all workers in the coal industry are supported to transition to new jobs in renewable energy.

Today a scathing report was released by the parliamentary inquiry into the CSG industry in NSW detailing how the NSW Government has arguably failed to implement a single one of the NSW Chief Scientist’s 16 recommendations from 2015.

Concerned about the continued lack of long-term, secure funding for vital independent Disability Advocacy Services despite calls for funding from the Ageing & Disability Commissioner, today Abigail successfully moved another motion calling for the Government to support these essential services.
