Securing Release of ReINVEST Trial Grant Documents

After reports online in relation to the NSW Government funding of the ReINVEST trial program to the sum of $6.9 million, Abigail successfully called for the release of grant documents to continue investigating the basis on which funding has been provided. 

Keep South-West Sydney's Rail Public

Today Abigail called on the Government to keep South-West Sydney's public transport how it is: in public hands. The Government's plan to replace the existing Sydenham to Bankstown T3 line with a privatised Metro Southwest will negatively impact communities in South-West Sydney.

Greens' Led Inquiry Finds Government Has Failed Taxi Drivers

Today the parliamentary committee inquiring into the impact of the 2016 Point to Point Transport reforms released its findings and recommendations, with the revelation that the government has failed to distribute$100 million of the $250 million industry assistance package funded by the public through the Passenger Service Levy. The committee has also recommended that the Government develop and implement a buyback scheme of ordinary taxi licences, allowing licence owners who wish to retire to do so, while also releasing capital that can be used to innovate and effectively compete with rideshare. 

Speak up about greyhound welfare

The NSW Legislative Council has established a Select Committee to inquire into the Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission (GWIC), and in particular its success and ability to regulate welfare in the greyhound racing industry in New South Wales.

This week, despite a four day long filibuster from One Nation, the NSW Parliament passed a historic piece of legislation that will see NSW take the first steps in becoming a renewable energy powerhouse. It’s a huge win for real action on climate change.

Renewable Jobs for Newcastle

Today Abigail spoke in support of the work being done by the community in the Hunter region in preparing for a just and sustainable transition away from coal to renewable energy and the jobs boom that will be associated with it.

Crimes (Domestic & Personal Violence) Amendment (Coercive & Controlling Behaviour) Bill 2020

After a year of consultation with experts, stakeholders and front-line workers today Abigail introduced her Greens Bill to criminalise coercive control and controlling behaviour. For the second read of the Bill she was joined by the CEO of Women's Safety NSW and the General Manager of the Illawarra Women's Health Centre, Hayley Foster and Sally Stevenson.
