Renewable Energy

Today, Abigail asked the government why they had their heads stuck in the sand and were not investing in a jobs-rich future powered by a transition to 100% renewable energy.

Ms ABIGAIL BOYD (16:14): I direct my question to the Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women representing the Minister for Energy and Environment. Given that the 2019 Climate of the Nation report of the Australia Institute found that 78 per cent of Australians support a government plan to ensure the orderly replacement of coal-fired power with clean energy, and given that 73 per cent of Liberal Party voters and 62 per cent of voters for The Nationals want at least a gradual transition away from coal to clean energy, does the Government agree with most of its voters that coal-fired power should be completely replaced by clean energy? If so, when can we expect to see an actual plan for a jobs-rich 100 per cent renewal energy future for New South Wales?

The Hon. BRONNIE TAYLOR (Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women) (16:15): I thank Ms Abigail Boyd for her very detailed question that relates to a portfolio of a Minister in the Legislative Assembly. I will take that question on notice and seek an answer for her in due course.
