Abigail is proud to announce the Greens NSW MPs' new portfolio allocations as we say goodbye to David Shoebridge and hello to Sue Higginson!
Yesterday, fellow Greens NSW MP David Shoebridge resigned from the Upper House to contest the federal election. We wish him all the very best as he takes on federal politics, and we are hopeful that he will secure a senate seat.
We are also pleased to announce that Greens NSW MP Sue Higginson will be joining Abigail and Cate in the Upper House as of May 2022.
With these exciting changes, the Greens NSW MPs have re-shuffled the portfolio allocations.
*NOTE: All Greens MPs have been allocated the climate change portfolio due to its importance and in recognition that tackling the climate crisis requires a whole-of-government response.
Most notable in the re-shuffle is that Abigail's previous portfolio "Mining, Coal & Gas" has been replaced with "Energy & Just Transitions". This means that Abigail will continue her work in the energy space, and also take on new work in the just transition space. Abigail has also gained the portfolio "Attorney General", and her previous portfolio of "Young People" has been replaced with "Children & Young People" to include further issues such as child protection.
Abigail's new portfolios:
● Climate Change
● Treasury, Finance & Economy
● Domestic Violence & Abuse
● Transport & Infrastructure
● Disability
● Animal Welfare
● Children & Young People
● Attorney General
● Energy & Just Transitions
● Women’s Equity & Economic Justice
● Sex Work
● Older People
● Hunter, Central Coast & Newcastle
