Inquiry into provisions of the Digital Restart Fund Bill 2019

An Upper House Committee will be conducting an inquiry into the provisions of the Digital Restart Fund Bill 2019. The Bill is designed to provide funding for digital and information and communications technology initiatives across the government sector, in order to improve the delivery of services by government agencies.

The Committee Chair, Ms Abigail Boyd MLC, stated: 'There has been a lack of detail about how the proposed Digital Restart Fund will operate. The committee is unclear as to how the fund will be administered and what projects will be funded. We also need to investigate whether the bill as it stands will ensure appropriate use of public money, and whether privacy and cybersecurity concerns are adequately addressed'.

Submissions to the inquiry close 12 January 2020. Hearings are anticipated to commence in February, with the committee then due to report by 17 March 2020.
