Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty

A new global movement is building in the fight for climate justice, calling for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty. A better future is possible, but to get there we must be courageous. We must stand up to the fossil fuel lobby and the politicians they have bought, and demand that our planet collectively commit to a clean, green and visionary future.

The treaty, if signed, would stop all public investment in coal mines, offshore gas rigs and other fossil fuel infrastructure. In addition, it would demand a just transition for communities and countries reliant on coal so that no one is left behind.

In 2021, ACT became the first jurisdiction in Australia to sign onto the treaty. Now it’s time for NSW to do the same.
